Hey, how is the job outlook for teachers in New Mexico? My wife and I have entertained the idea of moving from Minnesota.

If you have your masters and go through a program that the State has you will start at least 50K.

I live in Florida and the teacher outlook is really bad here. I graduate in May and I'm thinking of moving to another state possibly another country (Ireland) Do you know how the outlook in Ireland is? What about South Carolina?

May I suggest you visit a different forum (i.e. South Carolina).

In 2005 the average teacher salary in MN was $47k... in NM it was $39k.

Don't be fooled. New Mexico will be sunnier than Minnesota but the mountains will be just as cold in the winter. Altitude is the controlling factor.

Altitude is the controlling factor.

I used to think that too, but it's not that simple.

By that logic, high Cloudcroft (8500 ft++) should be colder in the winter than any other village/town/city in NM, but it's very often not. I think that north-south has more to do with it than altitude. Lower-altitude places in northern NM are often colder than CC.
