I just came across this really cool 6 minute video of a motorcyclist with a helmet cam driving from Sunspot to Cloudcroft 9,000 ft above Alamogordo on the Sunspot Hyway of the sacramento mountains.
So for those interested sit back and watch the 6 minute view of the western rim of Sacramento mountains in southern New Mexico.
Notice how green with trees and also cooler temps up there from the desert basin just 20 miles below.
Again it it 6 minutes long and at the end they pull into Cloudcroft for some Barbecue.....

cool video, Harry. What a perfect day. Judging from the lean on the turns, I would say they were movin right along. The 2 guys on the bicycles must be supermen!
I've ridden my motorcycle on that road before. The motorcycling possibilities are one of the reasons that I want to move out there. I don't try to set speed records; I stop a lot to take photos. As a biker, I hate to say it, but there are a lot of idiots out there on motorcycles. Ninja 500s would be great out there, being small, light, and not overly powerful (a flatlander can get into trouble in a hurry in the mountains!). As long as one rides at about eight-tenths, he should be okay. Always assume there is something in the curves that is going to surprise you. That was a great video!
Hey, Thanks for posting this I look at some of the other vids. Way Cool !!
No problem....i was looking at the desert there in Carlsbad on his motorcycle video an noticing how hard core the Chihuahuan desert is there compared to the rest of Southern NM. I think that area is the lowest elevation in New Mexico.....
