Great Video!!!

The Ojito Wilderness Area, New Mexico is not too far from Albuquerque, it's about a 50 mile drive to the edge for us.
This is my best shot for the area (but there is a lot to see!).

But in that 11 minute video, I've seen more than I've seen in probably 5 days of hiking! And many things you can't
see from hiking.

The flight time is probably a bigger restriction. You can tell where the drone is more by what the camera is seeing, so you don't need to keep it in site. But you definitely don't want it running out of juice when it's a mile away and 3 canyons over!

Looks like the max flight time is ~18 minutes, which is good for electric.

It is really beautiful out there. I just took the Inspire over some areas I've been to before, and I had no idea they would look this amazing from above! The Inspire can cover a mile and a half flight radius on a clear day. It's expensive but well worth every penny.

There was a strange looking mountain I want to cover. Before I had the Inspire I tried to climb it, but the whole side of it was clay mud. Perhaps I can cover that soon.

Like to see from above at O'Keeffes Black Place. I went in once finally and in the right light it's magical.I did recognize some of the views you got when you had the road in there as a reference point. Well done. I gotta go back and see if I can figure out which of the parking areas you were at to get a better handle.

OP - Thanks for providing me a fix on my NM obsession. That is a wonderful video.

Is there a book on basic Droning? What are other sources of information. What sort of equipment is available and what is the cost? I see these helicopters in a gas station store but I really doubt the quality and usefulness.

We are taking a vacation to the Northwest US next fall. I would like to document the trip with more than still photography. do you have any equipment recommendations? I wonder if there might be a way of taking stereo pictures?

Have you heard of Nixie - Selfies Reach New Heights with Wearable Drone and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfzqUsGMHE0?
It's not commercially available yet but the concept sure is cool.
I'm not that into drones or taking pics of myself but after viewing the concept video all I could think is "I gotta have one of those."

You won't get anything useful out of a drone from a gas station. There are so many options I wouldn't know where to start! DJI makes some really amazing ones but they start at $400. It's best to start with something affordable and learn it really well and work your way up when you feel you need more.
