We're planning on spending most of the month of April in Silver City and wonder about the daily wind conditions. I've been monitoring the temps which look great but I'm seeing high winds with gust up to 45mph on a daily basis. Is this an everyday occurrence? I don't mind a breeze but gusty conditions don't make for great cycling.

The wind usually dies near mid April. My wife and I are hosting a bike team for the Tour de Gila. Silver City is for the most part a bike friendly town with plenty of road or mountain biking on the continental divide

Just a great 5 stage race all over Grant county. The downtown race is great to watch.
The mountain stages are too but harder to follow. End of April be here for the action.

The winds will drive you crazy after about 3 days. Not to mention the dust blowing around and getting into everything. Every year it's like we get collective amnesia... oh, yeah the wind is back, and the whining begins. I hope it does die down in mid-April but that seems early to me... and bring or buy a hat with a chin cord!! And chapstick.
Do come for the bike race it is cool!
