That is just the lot. Then comes $1.5 Mil for a house.

The Estate lots over on the west side are pretty pricey. The "affordable" housing up on top of the hill runs at $500,000 and up. I have so far been rather disappointed in the quality of construction. For this price, I would expect better construction techniques. Never put in a double header when you can conceal a single one. Hopefully, when more contractors get in there this summer, the quality will improve. We are GB-98, so I speak with some experience.

I can see the project from my window. There are now a handful of spec houses, and a lot of slabs showing. All the houses are built on concrete slab, no basements that I have seen. In fact there is a track-hoe digging away right now. I cannot see what he is digging. Could be water lines. It is going to be interesting.

I just reread some earlier posts and I want to agree with the poster who criticized the Mediterranean styles. This is not Italy. This is New Mexico. The styles that are currently being placed on ULR are totally out of character for this area. The styles should reflect adobe and or log. I talked with the main man at ULR and he is resistant to log, but several areas that will be developed could be very tastefully done in log.

If you would be interested in that route, please contact me for further info.

The developers are typical wheeler dealers. They did however attempt to work with the builders in Tucumcari and decided not to play the game.

Good is a relative term.

I understand if & when the golf coarse uses any chemicals on the greens & vegetation, the landscape and drainage has allready been designed to contain all the runoff in there own ponds! It is a nice design & it costed much more than they planned I have recently understood.

Jim West is telling a very narrow side of the story. While his observations about Tucumcari are accurate he is mistaken about the Ute Lake Developers choosing not to deal with them. They dealt with a number of local contractors and never paid their bills. They raped them one by one for as long as they were willing to come back for more.

When they could no longer get local help they brought in Illegal aliens. Coincidentally the crime rate sky rocketed. Come look around. But if you have anything that is important to you be sure to lock it up!!!
