Albuquerque where I live also has very high amount of cases with 710 cases today and 33 deaths for the state today. Lots of semi traffic on I-40 through NM and can be in all lanes of traffic vs. VA.

Thanks. BTW. Trucks can use the left lanes on interstates in VA if only 2 lanes. Examples are 81 and 64.

Or maybe a doctor for a 4 month old baby that has no say in the matter.

I strongly believe in abiding by all municipal, county, state, and federal rules, laws, and guidelines, informed by the best science possible, concerning personal and public safety in light of the pandemic.

But, unless the state borders are closed to civilian traffic, OP has every right to travel across them and through our state. And the fact the OP is making a good faith effort to do so within laws and guidelines so as to mitigate risk to their family and the states they pass through is frankly more than I expect considering the number of out-of-state plates I see on the interstates every hour of every day.

Advising OP to stay put and not travel is fine, and is certainly the best advice, but shaming him or her is out of line in my opinion.

If you want to shame someone, shame the easily identifiable members of our own community who are gathering for parties, shopping maskless, keeping stores and venues open and over-limit with customers, and otherwise flouting the public safety rules.

Covid is already here. It is not like we are in a sanitary bubble only susceptible to it by out-of-state virus carriers. The chief risk of an explosion of cases in our state is coming from irresponsible infected New Mexicans who are already among us.

At least you have a govenor who actually cares for her people. We are all sitting ducks here in Texas, Abbott won't do a darn thing.
You are lucky in NM.

You might be facing winter weather on I-40 in NM and AZ in a few weeks. Good luck if you have an emergency and need medical services, of if the interstate shuts down and there are no rooms available due to Covid restrictions.
