and here in AR we often say: Thank God for West Va. Yes, those of us in rural states know the problems are often greater when it comes to poverty than in the industrial states. Now, when it comes to crime, some of our states are actually on the lower end or certainly not at the top of the list.

Please remember that Welfare is not designed to provide money to the poor. These systems are designed to subsidize the companies supplying good and services to the poor. That is why the Federal food stamp program is run from the Dept of agriculture and not Health and Human Services. The Food Stamp program supports the demand for food and thus food prices for the farmers but mostly the processors and sellers.

When analyzing any government program you should follow the money not the good and services. Where the money stops is where the subsidy is meant to be.
