Interesting. I prefer the "been here 40 years" kind of places. Nothing against newbies, but the newer developments make me nervous. A lot of upscale building for coastal equity nomads who spread like locust in the housing bubble(s), and I would be afraid the values are inflated, or the neighborhoods riddled with foreclosures and dried up swimming pools.

Which neighborhood do you think would have the most stable property values (i.e., a solid, desirable, established middle or upper middle class neighborhood that locals will always move to when a home comes for sale)?

Default First snow for the Sacs

The villages of Ruidoso and Cloudcroft are both awakening to snow on the ground this morning (Oct 27) as temps dropped below freezing (barely) after a night of rainfall. Temps have been lower on several nights in Oct before this, but this is first precip in a month.

I was wondering if Ruidoso saw snow! I'm down in Alamogordo and it's currently 34 or so. No snow here though!
If only my husbands scooter would have started and he hadn't needed our car, I'd take my daughter up to Cloudcroft to see the snow!

Default Did Melissa Mahan get a divorce from Josh in June?

Just wondering every morning. Thanks!

Please! If you're heading south you are now in the Southwest. It's a desert. Water is an alkaline and scare commodity. Please re-think anything to do with grass or lush vegetation. Please become sensitive to your new environment and learn to appreciate the native desert flora and landscape with native plants and interesting rocks.

red46, apparently you weren't here Christmas 2006, when ABQ got 18 inches of snow in about a day.
I was gone from the end of 1999 to Oct 2008, so I guess I missed something. I never heard about a deep freeze here, though.

Happy Spring NM! Actually it's tomorrow but a lot of NM is covered in snow now.
Good point is at least it adds some moisture!

Ski Apache is still at least 90% open. We have rented our place in Ruidoso out 24 days so far this month.

It's warm and sunny in the southwestern corner--until Sunday when we hear there's a windstorm heading our way. In like a lion and...when will that lamb go out?
