It depends on the court.

The United States District Court for the District of New Mexico randomly selects names from the voter registration lists within the State of New Mexico. Any registered voter is subject to jury service; however, it is not a requirement in other New Mexico courts that you be a registered voter to serve as a juror.

For example Fifth Judicial District Court (Chaves, Eddy & Lea Counties) jurors are selected from a master data base of registered voters and driver’s license data bases maintained by the General Services Department of the State of New Mexico. The other District Court's also seem to draw from registered voters and driver’s license holders.

This is a joke, right..?

I'm sure you're being funny. I never heard of anybody being happy about a jury summons.

I don't know about ex-felons serving on a jury. It depends on the state, and I don't know NM stance on that one.

If they were summoned, then the summons they got will have a phone number to call if they have any questions. They can find out from the proper authority...
