I am hoping someone local can help me find out if any of the Alamogordo area restaurants will open on Christmas Day. My family will be camping at Oliver Lee State Park, and I am not sure if I can pull off a nice Christmas dinner in our borrowed camper! If no decent restaurants will be open, does anyone have any special meal ideas that could be made easily in a camper (has a gas stove and a microwave)?

Not positive but I think the Lodage in Cloudcroft is open for Christmas. I'll ask around and see what else might be open.
How do you like the park?
Have you seen the javelina yet?

mtncat, Thanks for checking! We will arrive in NM on the 23rd or 24th. I am looking forward to seeing some animals unique to the area! I hope to take some pictures worthy of posting here!

good luck with finding a place open on Christmas. We ran into that a couple of years ago driving from Dallas to ABQ and spent Christmas night in Amarillo. Furrs and one rest stop diner were open, that was about it.

One other suggestion....I'm not here Christmas, so I don't know what is open, but the Lodge probably is.

There are places here where you can order and pick up Christmas dinner fixings in advance already prepared. Offhand, I can't remember who does that, but they start advertising in the paper, so you might check that out.

Not as good as homemade, but an option, given your situation!

Thanks all, for the suggestions. Our plans are starting to come together. We have to coordinate with 3 sons living in 3 different states!

Lowes does a complete holiday dinner, or at least I know they do at Thanksgiving, however I do think it was to be ordered in advance. I would expect Denny's would be open but not sure.
