No Albuquerque due to crime but including the city of South Valley!!??

We used to innertube down the Rio Grande when we were young. Does that count as "swimmable"?

Best of luck in your search, mattsk42. Come on down & test the waters!

Based on the choices in your poll, Santa Fe.

Depends on a lot more than the criteria you listed. Your criteria could meet pretty much any town in the state over 10K. What do you want concerning art/culture? Shopping? Nightlife or music?

This is like having a "best city in Illinois" thread, but without Chicago.

Las Cruces is a cool town, as is Alamogordo. It does get hot down south here, but it is a safe town ta live in, and, what's more, I don't think Las Cruces is an unsafe town ta live in, either.

I celebrate southern New Mexico livin'!
