Anyone have any reasons why? I've heard from other places I posted that Albuquerque is not the best place due to crime and other big city things. I have no real opinion on it one way or another.
No Albuquerque due to crime but including the city of South Valley!!??
We used to innertube down the Rio Grande when we were young. Does that count as "swimmable"?

Depends on a lot more than the criteria you listed. Your criteria could meet pretty much any town in the state over 10K. What do you want concerning art/culture? Shopping? Nightlife or music?
because it has milder winters than ABQ and Santa Fe and its in Southern New Mexico.I also like its size.Its good for me that its on a couple interstates.

Las Cruces is a cool town, as is Alamogordo. It does get hot down south here, but it is a safe town ta live in, and, what's more, I don't think Las Cruces is an unsafe town ta live in, either.
