Hello,

Last time I was in New Orleans it was June before Katrina hit. MY husband and I are hoping to plan a trip back there next spring. We will be staying in the FQ. What I want to know is how much has it Changed scene Katrina and if that part of the City is somewhat back to some kind of normalcy.

Thanks
Lisa

My first visit here was in 2008, but I've heard that the Quarter was mostly unaffected by the storm, as well as a lot of other historic areas in the city. I can't personally comment on the "before/after" situation, but I fell in love with this place in 2008 and moved here a year ago. Many things are continually improving in a lot of areas.

I do know that the Quarter is hopping with tourists year 'round!

Honestly, not many places in the city are still struggling...Some neighborhoods still deal with blight just like they did before Katrina. But, for the most part you won't find anything different about New Orleans, except that it's gotten better.

I lived in NO for 30 years and came back in 5/06 and again last month. Progress is everywhere. You need to get out of the FQ to see what's been happening. There are areas that haven't made it all the way back yet, but it is a unique city that will move on. The best thing about the FQ is that it defies normal.
