I was driving from Texas to New Orleans on I-10 and I saw a parking garage with a huge Target sign on it. Is the Target store actually below the parking garage? Because the entrance was invisible to me from where I was.

Also, I was wondering... why is the nearby AMC cinema called AMC Palace? I have been to over a dozen different AMC cinemas all over the country, none of which had that name. Do they have alcoholic beverages or a bar/lounge?

The Target is part of a mall; they just have their sign up on that side so you'll know it's there.

The Palace name was originally used by a local theater company that was the first to set up stadium-style seating here. They got bought out by AMC. Don't think they have a bar.

Thanks... also I just happened to wonder... did the Target used to be a Montgomery Ward/Wards department store? If not were there any of those in/around New Orleans? I know the chain started in Chicago and expanded to most of the South and West, but mostly stayed out of the Northeast except for more rural areas. Yet Sears was their rival, also from Chicago, and covered all 50 states.

The Target you are speaking about used to be a Maison Blanche, a popular local dept. store. I do not believe N.O. has ever had a Montgomery Ward's.

The Target is also two stories. Escalators take you and your cart to the second level.

What is the name of this mall? Is it actually in New Orleans or is it Metairie? And one more question... where is the nearest Kmart to New Orleans?

Clearview Mall is in Metairie.

There's a Wal Mart in the city on Tchoupitoulas St. The are Kmarts in Metairie, Elmwood and Gretna all about a mile or two from the city.

Is there a Blue Bell ice cream shop in this mall by any chance? Maybe even Blue Bell ice cream sold at the Target snack bar?
