Last I heard , she's in LaJolla now for health reasons but she use to own the home on the corner of First and Chestnut in the Garden District (I believe) someone correct me if that's not right.

I'm curious why you want to know? Seems kinda creepy-stalkerish to me but maybe you have another reason?

Sorry southernbelleinutah...don't worry...i'm crippled...don't travel any more..just wanted to know...where she lived when she was there as she was kinda creepy in what she wrote.if you might recall....at one point in my life(when I was a lot younger)I read a lot of her books and saw her house on a special on tv but along with my age went some of my memory(does anyone know that feeling???) and I couldn't remember ...I did kinda remember the garden district...but since she no longer lives in new orleans....it shouldn't sem tooo stalkerish to ya!!!!! I'm very much interested in the new orleans history part.....

Well, it's actually 'normal' for groups of stalkers (tours) to stop at the location on a daily basis and try to peak through the fence and windows. Whenever my BF and I walk around the Garden District, we always comment on how uncomfortable it would be to live in that area with all the people walking around looking at the houses and checking out peoples backyards to try to imagine what it would be like to live there - of course we say this as we ourselves are peaking in through all the gates!

Since you're not able to travel, here's a link to what the home looks like.

Sorry I jumped to a false conclusion! I was born there and lived much of my life there and I remember some stories (vaguely) about fans trying a little too hard to "see" her. I did read most of her books when they came out but I didn't like the Interview movie - Brad Pitt was NOT the right choice for Lestat.

My grandkids still live there and I go every 2 months to visit. The downtown near the river, the French Quarter, and the Garden District are pretty much back to normal. Mid-City is not, neither is N.O. East - vast swathes of abandonned flooded buildings you can see from I-10.

I like the WWLTV.com website for news of the area. I've been reading it since Katrina hit. Good luck on finding more info.

I hope she still owns her Garden District house because it was gorgeous! After the "Interview" movie came out I remember her doing some interviews and giving tours of the house on t.v. and WOW! Its lovely. Also, if you read the "Mayfair Witches" series of books you will get very vivid descriptions of the house as that's where her characters live.
