Hello,

I'm moved back to NOLA(home) just last month. And i'm trying to find some places that offer a decent wage. At least $10/hr. And just like last summer, i'm having a hard time finding work.

Any Suggestions?

When I use to come home from college I would sign up with a Temporary Agency. They always paid above min. wage. Good luck!

A job agency is always a good idea. I worked in the offices for Manpower a few years ago and we always had good paying jobs. Let me tell you, they were good paying, but most of the time they were not easy jobs (mainly road construction, not AC factory work...). Most short term/summer jobs run $8.75/hr. A friend of mine is working on temporary assignment at the Westin and that's what she's making. I know that most hotels pay that rate and restaurants will probably pay a much lower rate because of tipping.

Good luck to you! The job market is not good here nor anywhere else. It was good here but people heard about it and now there's more competition for entry level jobs than one could imagine. Believe me, as a health care professional, I'm having incredible difficulty finding a job with a facility that doesn't have a nasty reputation and I'm a local.
