The Bronx Borough President is an embarassment to the borough. He spends too much time trying to be one of the homies and no time being the leader he was elected to be. The Tour De Bronx was this Sunday, and for those who missed it, it was a beautiful day to tour lots of Bronx neighborhoods on bike.
Ruben Diaz was on the bike tour, and his opening remarks to those that come from across the city, other states, and internationally, to bike the Bronx, consisted of such gems as "ain't nuttin betta than the Bronx" and "we will be traveling Norf" (Norf of course is North). He also didn't forget to wear the classic oversized grey sweatsuit (which I could forgive), but then he lifted up the pant leg on the right to remain just above his knee. Really?
It's that sort of "leadership" which continues to sink our borough.
I had the honor of meeting ruben diaz jr outside the county court house at a rally for affordable housin in bronx, this was in july or augusy. I remember saying half of the people at the rally looking for aforadable housing are going to.transplant themselves in florida eventually.
I have my offering plan and a 2BR apt picked but am having second thoughts about buying overall. I am looking to go for my MBA fulltime in the next 2 years. I might rent for the next year.
They have posted the application and advertisement for the rentals. Mostly Middle income which is good because you know there will be working families in the building. If you have friends or family that qualify encourage them to apply so you know there are credible people in the rentals. PH | Housing Application

Lastly, about the Bronx Borough President. I think it is great to have someone that identifies with the culture of the Bronx and is confident enough to not assimilate just to fit in with our screwed up American Politics. I agree that there is a time and place for everything so I am sure that he is not wearing his sweats hiked to his knees when in Albany or City Hall. I have an ivy-league degree and will never forget where I came from... the "souf" Bronx when in the hood and the South Bronx when I am in my midtown corporate office.
@ JBronxite. I have an appointment to pick up my offering plan later this week. Although a bit sceptical about buying for various reasons, I'm still going to go for it.
The sole purpose of me contributing to this forum is to share my experience regarding the process at Via Verde. I'll keep my politcal views and opinions to myself. But with that being said, I do like your comments regarding our Bronx Borough President. Thanks for "keeping it real".
@Seneca72 did you get your offering plan? And overall feeling of purchasing this co-op? Irecieved a congrats letters saying offering plan will be avaiable and that was 2weeks ago
@mrshavok, yes I selected a unit and received my offering plan. They suggest that you have your attorney review the plan and if you are still interested you have about a week to come back with your 5% down payment. At that time you will sign the purchase agreement along with some other forms and your file and down payment will be sent to the city (HPD....I think) for another approval. I know I've left out a few things. It's a long detailed process.
