Signed a lease, submitted first month's rent and security deposit. Dropped off a $20 check for a background check. Does anyone know how long this takes and what could disqualify you?
Usually the background check is done before the lease signing. So the fact that they want to do a background check AFTER the fact is dumb. Honestly if you and management already signed the lease and they took your deposit I am assuming you have a move in date already and if you move in before they complete it then that background check is moot.
Anyways I say it should take no more than two weeks for them to run your name and social.
If you signed your lease i assume you're set. Also when i paid $20, it was for the credit check. I think back ground check is the managements responsibility, and i've read some people don't even go through it...
Lease starts September 1st. Emailing them now about a move in date/time. I thought the background check was a bit late in the process.

Background check after signing the lease and paying first month/security Is pretty backwards if you ask me. The apartment is yours already. I have a DUI from three years ago and i was accepted by the board of my building. You’ll be straight! Enjoy the new place!
