When requesting an application from management companies for buildings that have open lists, do I need to specify which list(s) we are interested in? Or does that information - with income limits, rent/ buy-in, carrying charges - come with the application? I don't see any way to research it online. Thanks!
I mean apartment size. Do you have to specify when you request the application or when you send it in? It's hard to know without seeing the income bands and share purchase prices in the case of coops.
On the list of Mitchell Lamas, you can see what size apartments you can apply for in each building. For instance, a building may be accepting applications for one bedrooms but the two bedroom list may be closed. Obviously, if you need a two bedroom and that size is not open, you would not request that application. If your size is available, though, when you get the application you can see the prices and how many occupants required.
Remember that prices may change, though, if you have a long wait. But you will get a ballpark figure.
I wonder why some Mitchell Lama developments have open waiting lists for years? I am sure these lists are massive. Do the management companies maintain these lists just to collect the application fees?
I understand the ML lotteries but I don't understand how the open waiting lists work. We have been on a one bedroom waiting list for several MLs for many years. When we filed our applications and received our log numbers, the letters from each management stated 3 to 5 year waits and in some cases 2 to 4 year waits. We are way beyond those years. Is this typical? I do check every now and then but the management companies are hardly forthcoming.
