Hello i have been certified to a nycha brooklyn development for going on 3 months now im priority w2 n4 been certified since 7/29/2020 i have been calling the development phone number and they keep saying that i have to wait they pick up with an attitude and always putting me on hold im just looking for some insight on the waiting process for the apartment selection.....im not understanding because when i picked my development it was anticipated vacancy so why am i waiting so long to see a unit any help is appreciated
Because of COVID, I don't think they are repairing any available apartments. I live near one and I can see several empty apartments, which is unusual. Wonder if people just moved, or they couldn't afford the rent due to job loss.
Thank you guys for responding i was thinking because of covid things slow down but they still working so i dont know why they not repairing units because they need working families in nycha to pay rent ill guess ill be patient and wait ill keep you guys posted
Same here every time i go home i seee nothing but empty units and i call management and they say oh we only call you when the selection department calls them and let them know ive been picked for a unit im like what?????? So why say anticipated vacancy if they not available smh this is very annoying ive applied in 2013 and just getting certified in 2020

This must be frustrating. I would try writing to the NYCHA board. Go on the nycha website and there is a section where you can write to the nycha board. Often, things done in writing are more productive than by phone. It might be helpful to you.
So I'll share my experience so far.. I initially applied for Nycha March 2019. I had my interview August 20,2020, got certified on August 28th, 4 room (2 bedroom) in Manhattan. I was selected for an apartment on October 22 & received a letter with the apartment number. I've called the development and same thing you've experience, the management office has an attitude and gives me no real update. Just that I have to wait to be called. I know that they are working just working slower to fix apartments because of covid.
