I just got emails for two re-rentals for apartments in my old building at 510 Flatbush Avenue, I laughed even harder - and a warning to anyone who got it and was considering it - don't! They are DIRECTLY over the wellness center aka nightclub on the weekends. Music goes until 4am, not only get the inside noise but people hang out outside. At least one of the apartments has been vacant for almost a year.

I will REALLY laugh hysterically if I get an email for my old apartment, which was also still vacant last I saw.

Lol I can’t do noise. I just can’t. Back in 2012 I had a horrible situation where three young boys moved into the apartment below me and they made noise all night long and threw party’s from 10pm to 6am.

Back then, I was doing a masters in the evening and working full time during the day so I needed my sleep!
Gosh what a bad experience.

I don't think anyone can take that kind of noise unless they create it themselves! Fortunately the wellness center/nightclub wasn't open yet when I lived there but I was kind of seeing the writing on the wall. Most of the drilling/build out noise was in the day and not constant, but I did get very cranky one night they were working on the space and had a simple boom box going until 3 in the morning, which I could hear in my apartment. I am still a part of the online group for building residents so I am seeing what they're going through.

Thank you very much posting about your experience because it really does help to avoid having to move again!

The walls must be really thin! I have a viewing this week and i must know all the red flags! Which apartment did you stay in?

If the owner was smart he would pay to maintain the building, and now he's going to have to shell out money for a wrongful death lawsuit. And of course no amount of money can make up for a life cut short.

That is why I recommend checking out an address on the Department of Buildings website before renting or buying an apartment. That way you can see what complaints have been documented and avoid a bad situation.

Just type in the borough and address:

Very sad story:

Is this building a Low Income Housing Tax Credit one through the city? It says it was built in 1971..

I use this to look up buildings and to see if any people have made complaints, if there are any violations etc :https://www1.nyc.gov/site/hpd/about/hpd-online.page

Just bringing this back up because I have just laughed hysterically due to having just received a re-rental offer for my old apartment. Looks like my replacement did their year and ran. Anyone else getting an offer for this building - don't take it, the issues with it still exist!
