Hi everyone,

This will be my very first move and I want to make sure everything is done right and according to NYCHA guidelines in order to avoid penalties.

Can someone current or existing resident tell me what is the process and any red flags I should know about in order to avoid issues?

Thanks in advance!

Congratulations on moving out! I did so a generation ago. I also closed out my grandma's estate after she died. She had lived in NYCHA until 5 years ago. The process should still be the same.
a) go to the management office and give them the notice.
b) settle all unpaid bills and other balances.
c) make sure that there are no other people on the lease form or that all have agreed to find alternate lodging.
d) that's it

I see on the NYCHA website that if I give them less than 30 days notice I might get charged for the remaining amount of days.

Is this still a rule?
