Hey everyone! Idk if anyone else has posted about it but I keep coming into an issue. Currently living in a 1 bedroom and was approved for a 3 bedroom apartment transfer. My development doesn’t have any vacancies so I keep looking elsewhere. But when I call and say I have a voucher they either hang up, say the landlord doesn’t accept section 8 or ask me what kind of voucher I have. I have had at least 3 landlords tell me that the NYCHA section 8 voucher isn’t the “good one”. Which voucher is “the good one”? Sorry if someone has posted this before.

You should be reporting those landlords for voucher discrimination there is no such thing as the “good one” you already have Section 8. Try to get a audio recording or an email or text to show as proof that these people you are trying to connect with are discriminating against you because of the type of voucher you have. Go on NYC.gov discrimination against type of of income and select section 8 and make sure you get this on record through the NYC.gov website.

Is your voucher CityFHEPS? Until just now, that voucher paid substantially less than the regular Section 8. They have just changed that:

OP still getting discriminated against based on his voucher wether it’s HPD or NYCHA he shouldn’t be getting hanged up on or told he doesn’t have the “good section 8 voucher”. That’s wild and straight discrimination
