If you are evaluated for a unit they will ask about your income. Be prepared to demonstrate your income. Do a search, there are good posts about being self employed and doing the paperwork.
You're right-- I really shouldn't withdraw now. I guess I didn't realize I had an option to fight for 80& AMI as I wasn't outright rejected but instead offered 125%.
I will contact HPD on Tuesday, thanks so much for the advice!
Yeah, definitely call HPD. The thing is they are miscalculating your income which is why you pop up into the 125% bracket, right? I bet they are having a harder time filling the 125% units and they think they can just convince you to go along with their BS and take the more expensive unit (heck no!). They count on people being a) uninformed on the process, and b) so desperate for an affordable apartment (understandably) that they won't push back on anything.
You got this, keep us updated!

So you guys know my interview is on Monday .. however I fall under 80% AMI for studio and 1bedroom. Do you think they would give the option to choose between the two I would want to live in during the interview? Or they probably just give me what they want to give me ? I wanted to email them and ask but I didn’t want to seem like a bother. Has anyone ever been in this situation before? If so please give me some insight.
Thanksss so much again !!
