And you know what happens? Nothing. Because two city beuracrocies that's why.

Log #4 people. We are so close. Application submitted to HDP waiting on employe verification from DOE. Instead of 3 to 5 days we are on day 9 of waiting.

Has anyone been through this?

Hey! I think I may be in a similar situation. My file was submitted to HPD on Monday of this week. On Wednesday my agent asked me for my employee ID number and said that HPD was asking for it for employee verification. I work for the DOE. So I am now assuming HPD is waiting for employee verification from DOE based on your situation. Did your agent specifically tell you that HPD is waiting on the DOE? Did you have to sign anything for them to obtain employee verification from HPD? I wasn’t told anything or asked to sign anything. All that happened so far was two days after the file was submitted my agent asked for my employee ID number and told me it was requested by HPD to verify employment. Ugh this is too stressful!

Took HPD 15 business days to approve me. 3-5 is what they say but it certainly varies… many people tend to wait about 2-3 weeks for approvals. Don’t worry, they will get to you soon. Well wishes!

Also work for DOE - you can get an employee verification doc off of NYCAPS if necessary

No Basically same as you they asked for employment number and it's been 9 business days. They assured me that it's just burocractic nonsense and oh yeah they're going on vacation. I caaaaant take it!!!

Meanwhile God forbid we ever don't get back to a parent in 5 seconds or less...

Glad to see I'm not the only one dealing with this

Do you think because it’s spring break that next week won’t count? I’m confused because don’t they need our signature to receive employee verification? I wonder who they contact to obtain it. I submitted employee verification along with my paystubs when I submitted documents, so this is just adding to the stress of the whole process!

I love that we can vent on here and all have the same frustrations. Whole process is slow and needs to be revamped asap. People are left in the dark for such a long period of time

The employee verification from NYCAPS isn't sufficient. They still need to complete the verification directly with DOE. I work for a different city agency and my entire process took 6 weeks, with HPD wait time being the longest. When I spoke to the project manager at HPD, they said city employment verification takes the longest.

But why is the employee verification such an important step ? If we submit 6 paychecks with employee ID and such?

Is being a city employee somehow beneficial in this process?

It's only beneficial if the building has a municipal employee preference. Most of the lottery buildings do and for 5 or 6% of the overall affordable units.

One would think it would be easier to verify city employment over someone who works in the private sector but nope! I wonder if HPD is requesting the verifications by mail and waiting for the response to be mailed back...
