I’m seeing a pattern with these “units still available” lotteries and the 130AMIs. Looks like these lotteries didn’t fill the 130AMI at the initial lottery. Wonder what happens if they still can’t fill them. I don’t think offering lower AMI is an option.

Do you know the process with this type of "units still available" situation? I applied to one about 5 weeks ago and there was only one 1BR apartment available that I qualified for (5 apartments total, including 4 2BR). My HC2 still says "pending," but does it update if/when that apartment goes to someone else? I'm basically just curious if I will ever know the result! I'm not super invested in that particular building, but I still would just love to know if it's still on the table or not...

That's exactly what I'm thinking. They couldn't fill in the units with 130's.

It's a beautiful building, but if I remember correctly, the apartments are too small for the rent they're asking.

Sounds accurate. Same experience with 260 Gold - The 2 bed was literally a 20ft x 20ft box, with a 6 x 5 bathroom added on. Two 10x10 bedrooms, one 20 x 10 kitchen-living area, two 1.5ft wide closets.
For $3250 a month, you can definitely do better than a 430ft 2-bed!

I really don't know why developers build so small these days. Just a fraction larger makes such a difference in livability and it's a false economy to build tiny apartments to save money that no one will actually want to rent so they will sit unoccupied.

@CityWorker4 I'm not sure tbh, these buildings run different. I've experienced getting a letter being told that all units have been filled. I also have seen some in housing connect change the status to units filled. but not all of them follow that protocol.

@stormgal yup!! so I'm very curious if this round of applicants also don't fill the units what they will do next. I know previously units that weren't filled were allocated to ppl who are homeless.

If the lottery winners are turning it down because of the small size and high price, it blows my mind that people are paying market rate for these tiny apartments lol

Okay, thanks! Guess I'll just wait some more... since we have all gotten quite used to that!

Same! It has to be desperation and lack of other options because a market rate 1 bedroom is like 4,700 - very close to 5k!

I turned down two beautiful apartments at 57th street (billionaires row lol) because the apartments were dark and didn't have adequate sunlight. Even the person who was showing me the apartment was like, "oh my gosh it's so dark here."

Other than that, I was so surprised that they were almost 700 square feet in size. But I didn't like that the rich were living on higher floors of the building with magnificent views in apartments drenched with sunlight and I had to take the dark apartment on the lower floor. As a person who had suffered from seasonal affective disorder, I couldn't live in darkness with no sort of sunlight coming through. So no thanks!
