It happened to me with a mini lottery. I was called for a beautiful building - one bedroom almost 800 sq ft but during the middle of the process they jacked up the AMI by a lot making me not want to take it. The rent which was mid 165 ami would’ve made me live paycheck to paycheck.
@acave123 that’s very unfortunate and upsetting for sure! Thank goodness you’re in the clear! I’m in the 100% AMI and I still meet the new income requirements, thank God. But you’re right so many people could be affected smh.
Of course everyone is subject to the new AMI. They update eligibility each year for the very purpose of making sure the people who get housing are the people they intended it for; not people whose salaries were lower in the past.
@TheaterFan updating eligibility has nothing to do with what @acave is saying. Even if your income increases or decreases after you signed a lease they cannot move you out the apartment. Therefore ppl who were already approved based on the old Ami should not be subject to income recalculation While waiting for lease signing because if somebody applied for a two bedroom and then right before lease signing your telling them they are not eligible for the two bedroom because the new AMI you just wasted that families time because maybe the family can’t fit into a 1 bedroom. It would be different if they didn’t have any units available but that’s not the case

Yes, I know; the poster has not yet signed a lease
