Good plan! At the very least, get information about what the policy is for early termination. Not all buildings will be as flexible as mine is, some may have a fee to terminate but you will then be clear about what you are getting into and can be prepared. And if there isn't already clear language in your lease about termination, make sure you get whatever the policy is in writing so you have it when you need to exercise the option. You could also ask if there is an option to go month-to month for a few months, without signing a renewal lease. I'd just be honest about your situation, that you are in the process of securing a place to move but its not finalized and what options can they offer you, you won't be the first person asking about this and it's a hot rental market, they'll probably let you out. Hi all,

It’s now been 7 business days since my file was sent. HPD said they received it and I need to await contact form the marketing agent once it’s reviewed. Does this seem fine?

They originally said a June 1-15 move in and the 15th is next week. I assume they are just pretty backed up.
