the machinese installed in apt complex are usually factory refurbished, slightly damaged like scratches and paint loss or minor dents,so they would take what is available, your apartment just ended up with a combo.
my experience is that they are not as reliable, ask the MAYTAG repair man,
not necessarily. for new developments such as this one.. no. the appliances are usually brand new.
now if you're moving into a re-rental, hell yeah they use refurbished applinaces, or will clean the prior tenants appliances off to appear to be new
Maybe it is because of unit mix, there is requirement that number of units should be ADA compliant. Most of stackable machines do not meet the ADA height requirement.
Work "perfectly fine" would vary by expectation of user.
Washing isn't usually the issue, but drying is another matter.
Condenser dryers are slow, much more so than vented gas or electric.
So true. I'm a big guy who wears a lot of cotton and I'm much happier with the commercial units in the communal room then I was with the in unit Bosch I moved out of.
If you're a female who wears a lot of gym gear you'll likely be much happier with an in unit setup.

Yes, I can attest to this, I can objectively say that drying sucks in in these machines. I will definitely be taking my bedding to the laundry room when it's eventually ready. I'm just really hoping it's not Hercules because they are the biggest rip off in my opinion.
My in unit W/D is Beko brand & it's separate washer & dryer (not combo). Been using it more than a year & I'm quite satisfied with the results. I don't need to bring my bedding, rugs, & mats down to share laundry room, I washed them in my unit W/D & the dryer is fantastic!!

I don't need to but I would prefer to because there are bigger and faster. It definitely takes longer to dry (though I don't put my gym clothes in the dryer) still I wouldn't trade it... in unit offers convenience but they are definitely not more efficient...
