I think what would be good is if there was a cooling off period after winning one. E.g. 12 months before you can start applying again. Would give a wider range of people the opportunity to be successful faster.
I'm good right now in my current affordable apartment, but I am on the waiting list for a Mitchell-Lama that will likely be my retirement apartment so stick around for updates on that and to give advice when I can.
stormgal's responses always very informative. Thanks for sticking around

This wouldn't make a difference because you can only hold 1 apartment at a time. If you move from lottery to another, your old apt is made available to the next person on the waitlist or sometimes re-listed on HC if the building has several openings and needs more applicants.
Why some posters who won their unit, sometimes years ago, still come here regularly? Are they addicted?
I'm mature enough to admit im jealous when people say the won and go on and on about their amazing new apartment and the problems they have with the pool closing too early. Just being honest
um hello,
the Housing Lottery Forum is NEW so YOU'RE on OUR time
What macnyc said. This is a tricky process, and the agents aren't always helpful, and when I have a little free time to drop by, I don't mind helping out people with questions.
Also occasionally I gotta call out the racist doofuses on the main forum for being racist doofuses. It's not good for my BP, but this can be such a useful forum when it's not being dominated by people living in other states with weird complexes.
I like hearing success stories and actual facts versus people who have no life and can sit on a forum all day/everyday commenting non sense under every thread, there's a difference.
Plus you have the people who don't even be having a legit answer but will still comment their opinion. When clearly the person who made the thread is asking a specific question, that SOME people can answer because they actually DID it or went through it. NOT for the people who won a unit and swear they have all the answers.
When I finally win my deluxe apartment in the sky, (cross fingers) I will probably still post here. I think even if you win a good place, it’s hard to stop looking for a better deal, layout, amenities and neighborhood. It’s fomo. Honestly, most people who have been through are really good for info about the process. I’m still learning new stuff after doing this for 8 years.
