Exactly..Once you heard Kane or Rakim, everybody knew hip hop was gonna be around for a while...Dont forget about Kool G Rap?? NYC legend..In my book, he is the Godfather of lyrical rap..I was playin G Rap's music in PR in 1990-91..The dudes on my block couldnt really understand it, but they knew it was HOT!!
It started in the BX, with Kool Herc, Afrika Bambatta, Grandmaster Flash and a lot of others then it migrated to Queens in the 80's.
I remembering going to the Webster P.A.L., the T-Connection, Exstacy Garage, Harlem World, etc. with all the other ole skoolers.
I was hip-hop back in the day, lived and breathed it. Even had the flyers which if I knew they were going to be worth something today I would have saved and preserved them.
