More annoying than scary. The patrons aren't like mass murderer, serial mugger-crazy, just like... annoying, loud, obnoxious, no respect for other people-crazy. Oh, and kids in their mid-teens like to hang out there and smoke cigarettes while simultaneously engaging in other forms of "cool" behavior.

*sigh* Where are the good old-fashioned mass murderers and serial muggers when ya need 'em? =/

I know people come from other parts of NY and NJ to our mall. They love it. I guess it's OK, but I don't go there much, except now for my holiday job.

There are some really nice things to do here, especially in the summer. There's Snug Harbor Cultural Center, Richmondtown Restoration (which has the oldest schoolhouse in America), Revolutionary history, a zoo, a few small, but nice museums, The Staten Island Yankees, St. George Theatre, tons of parks and walking trails.

I wish people would visit more. They'd learn we are so much more than the former dump.

Staten Island has basically become an extension of southern Brooklyn.

Nope.

Staten Island is New Jersey, but with better drivers.

Know what the best thing about Staten Island is?

No street cleaning days. Park your car there and leave it in the same spot all week.

Even though most of that god forsaken island is full of ex Brooklyn types?
How is it like NJ exactly? The mentality is straight BK.............
New Jersey cringes at the thought of Staten Islanders moving to NJ. Seriously.

I realize you don't like SI too much, but I have strong roots with the island.
I for one don't cringe at the thought of Staten Islanders moving in. I cringe at the thought of Staten Island joining NJ.

Either way, I don't hate the borough. It's just the fact that so many people hate it. A lot of the people who hate it have no right to hate it, they're usually just ignorantly jumping on that bandwagon without any actual credibility.
