Yeah those projects are the worse. Some years ago those housing projects had constant shot outs and other sorts of gunplay. That area had more crime then any part other part of Morrisania.

To be fair, it's calmed down alot from when I used to visit 3-4 years ago. But it is a dangerous area, no doubt about that.

Probably Betances from what I hear and see, I know a couple who are trying hard to avoid not to move out of betances, housing wants to move them to Mott Haven Projects or St Marys pjs which is far far more dangerous then Betances. From what I remember melbrooke in Mott Haven, Mott Haven projects and the webster avenue projects are the worse in the South Bronx, but Edenwald in williamsbridge section of the Bronx used to top all of them. As for Patterson pjs I can never forget when some stupid AA youths were throwing eggs at cars for fun during the day, a Dominican immigrant got hit and got out the car and chased to confront the youths, one of the youths pulled out the gun killing the Dominican immigrant and who was also father dead in his tracks. I remember this because I was shopping at Westernbeef that very day when that incident happened. Some years ago at the Millbrook housing projects two friends were sitting in thier car while someone opened fired and shot and killed both men. Some of my classmates I used to attended school with back in elementary nearly all of them are in jail now. One incident where a group called the hellbound crips used to sell and move around 15million dollars of crack and cocaine a year around mitchell projects right under the NYPD noses, it took the FBI and DEA to crack the case and my former friend are still serving time in federal prison, feds put alot of heat on the 40th precinct that day. I remember in MItchell pjrs a friend of a friend threw his new born baby down a hopper, and a friends of friends mom was killed with a 9 inch through her head. Ive seen a hipster almost get mugged on his way home but the was let go thanks to my brave encounter to let him go. Friend of a friend was so broke he would rob Mexicans every week. far worse was beekman area This is within the past 5 years. I have alot of stories on crime in Mott Haven area.
