It was very run down as well , and to think my mom tells me Flushing was beautiful at one time with different minority . My Godmother explained her theory of what turns an all white neighborhood into Chinese , African American etc .. : Someone decides to sell there house or the house of their parents that passed away or go into a nursing home .

They don't care who to sell the house to because they don't want the headaches and just want to sell it to whoever and collect the money . Before you know it , more and more different ethnic groups move in and it changes .

So its really the white people's fault for selling out their houses and betraying the greater white cause?

Anyways ozone park is alright, its not the best, not the worst, loud parties every night in the summer.

My parents grew up there in the 1960s-70s and even back then it was a pretty mediocre, mostly white trash area.

I have to admit many people of the white race felt betrayed and quite pissed when someone in let's say : Rosedale , Queens or Canarsie , Brooklyn that were well respected white neighborhoods slowly became black or Spanish and now many white people like myself are afraid to come out at night because we don't want to be held at knife or gun point .

That's what drove a lot of people out because they became afraid and moved to another area that was safer .
At least according to my relatives , this is why they relocated .

Thank god we're having a hurricane this weekend, hopefully that stems the tide of music from all directions. I need to catch up on some sleep!

No, no more white folk in that area except for my parents of course. Probably the very last Italians except for whoever's working at the ice place on Rockaway Blvd. I wouldn't say that the atmosphere has gotten cold since west Indians have moved in, however I'm sure crime has gone up among other things...

As white kids growing up (10-15 years ago) as the neighborhood was changing, we were kinda forced into private school, as it wasn't safe for us to attend the more... er, diverse schools. Lots of anti-white racism, too much for us quiet types not looking for fights. So if you're white and have young kids going to school, this may be something to consider. No racism intended here, just prepare for possibility that others are not as tolerant!

I agree. Both 202 and 210 are horrible schools for middle class white kids to attend, and don't even get me started on John Adams or Franklin K Lane.

Yeah I actually had it in my head to go to Adams when I was 13. Luckily someone talked me out of it. My brother went to 226 and wasn't really the same after that, pretty scary experience for him/parents. I was zoned for 210, but the folks just sent me to Gate of Heaven instead. This was 10-such years ago, no idea what the situation is now, though I can't imagine it's changed much. I've heard stories of beatings, fights, rapes at 210 since then as friends went there (you know the it-was-good-enough-for-us parents use), but never bothered to confirm the rumors...

I went to 202 and their were more racial tensions there then anything. Almost everyday there I heard anti-white things being said by the students, and when I went there, there were a decent amount of white kids [maybe 25%], most of whom were from Howard Beach, but the majority of the kids there were Hispanics or West Indians. I imagine it's probably even worse now.

Thankfully, I went to Grover Cleveland, as I was zoned for Lane and wasn't accepted into Adams for whatever reason, even though I resided in the neighborhood. My parents really didn't want me to go to Lane since it was so awful, and we never really were a family with a lot of income, so I didn't go to any private schools.

And Cleveland was better? How old are you? Cause from 1990-2004 Cleveland was a ****hole and now that the 3nis and Kings have moved into this neighborhood they share their problems on the 2nd and 3rd floors with everyone else in the school problems like these have become the norm over the last couple of years...

Anon, Lane was one of the worst schools in the whole city.

I graduate Cleveland in 2007, but I heard that school went down the toilet shortly after I left.

Oh wow you're younger than I thought... Yea Cleveland had a bright period from about 05-08 when Scarola started cleaning up the school but then the spanish gangs from the neighborhood began to take over the school... And once schools like Lane, Bushwick and Grand Street Campus closed and became charter schools... the "left-overs" went to Cleveland.. you'd be surprised to see how many students in 93 and Cleveland actually live in areas like Bed-stuy, South Jamaica, Far Rock a bunch from East NY... etc.

But just to let you know when I was graduating that school in the early 90s Cleveland had just been put on the list of most dangerous schools in the city and was taken off that list in 2005... Lane was worse but at the time it was like choosing where to live Flatbush or Brownsville?
