Unfortunately, Manhattan is so full up - even crap hole nabes like the *LES and East Villiage are super crowded and SUPER expensive - in reality - if you had relatives who had rent stabilized apts - and you moved in w/o telling anyone and managed to stay there, I think you may qualify for being 1st in line to take it over when said relative moved out/died(and even that may have changed) - BUT other than that - I really don't think there are any more cheap apts - You're going to have to look towards the outer boroughs or get yourself a few room mates - No way you are find a cheap place.
(*No slight on LES & East Village - some of my fave bars/eats are there - just the way it looks, age of buildings - I lived there for some time, & it was kinda grimy/crappy)
Like the question says I know theres some cheap rents somewhere in Manhattan just got to find it. Any suggestions.
Parts of Harlem and parts of Washington Heights have the lowest rents in Manhattan.Whether one considers them "cheap" depends on one's perspective and income.
You guys suck looking. I believed you people . But if Manhattan is so expensive, how did my sister find a one bedroom apartment in Inwood for only $840 a month?

Like I said so many times before, my fire escape is only $1100 a month and is close to the C,E and 1 trains, it's also steps to all the night life!
