There are NO studio apartments in Starrett City.

A HUGE 1 bedroom apartment is between 1000-1500 per month.A little more if you want a spot in the parking lot (which you do) and I think there is a small monthly charge for a dishwasher in your apartment. Also any apartment on the 4th floor or higher have fairly nice size balconies.

Wow. They are expensive. I might as well wait for NYCHA.

Starrett City is not a bad place, the buildings are clean and well kept, it is reasonably safe, however, it is far from the city and in order to get to the subway, you first have to take either the bus to the 3 train or the bus to the L train. So it works better if you have a car. It's not impossible without a car, but it can become a hassle.

Back when it was built the requirement was for a maximum income...those over that amount need not apply.

The $32,300 implies it is based on the governmental standard of 30% of rent. Working backards, that implies an annual rent of $9690 a year or $807.50/month. Is that ballpark?

ShakenBacon, how HIGH could you have gone and still qualified?

Yes. That is correct. It's about $900. They wanted to charge me $960 for a one bedroom. You can find a one bedroom cheaper than that if you shop around. And I don't mean in NYCHA.
