Just about all of the hoods along the 7 line is overcrowded with the exception of LIC and parts of Sunnyside.

The OP is not from Queens and doesn't know the area - s/he is probably asking about areas that were recommended to him/her.

Woodside, Sunnyside and Forest Hills are good. I bought in Woodside 10 years ago. If you are an african-america be wary of the racism. I went through hoops when I purchased.

What areas did you experience racism?

Somebody must have mentioned it on a sit-com

Sunnyside is fairly priced but SUNNYSIDE GARDENS, which the O/P mentioned, which I take to mean the town/row houses surrounding the cooperative garden is very pricey. I had friends who bought one of the small homes a couple decades ago and made a lovely 4 story out of it. Gorgeous, but a steady up and down the steps. They threw MANY parties.

A VERY nice place to live but a bit of hike to the subway, about 5 or 6 blocks from Queens Boulevard if I recall correctly.

I recommmend REGO PARK for the combination of safety, shopping, ease of subway access and price.

I'm in the same boat when it comes to moving (except I live out of state). I was looking at Fresh Meadows though. Is it safe? That's all I really care about. Any opinions out there on Fresh Meadows safety wise?

How are these areas?

Woodside - Irish Mob
Forest Hills - Jewish Mafia
Jackson Heights - Columbian Drug Cartels
Flushing - Your mine
College Point - The Mob
Sunnyside Gardens - Irish Mob
Maspeth - Polish backed by the Russian Mafia
Rego Park - Jewish Mafia

Looking to leave the drug filled area of Fordham Rd and upgrade my surroundings.

Thanks,

Mike
If I were you, I'd rather live in a place where I can freely do business and not worry about organized crime syndicates.

I used to live in Maspeth, and half my family is from there. It's very residential considering it's very close to Manhattan; except the mass transit stinks. You have to take a 10 minute bus to the subway. But most of the people living there have had roots down for many years. I know most of the people living on my Aunt's block have been there for generations. Once you cross over the LIE, it tends to get more Polish. It seems to be a mix of Polish and Italian generally.
