Word. I don't condone people jumping on one person as I think it's b***hmade and uncalled for. However, dude was so stupid for poppin off at the mouth when it's 3 of them. As you said, he was not gonna win that one at all.

Three NYPD cops indicted in ticket-fixing scandal stripped of union privileges - NY Daily News

I guess this is the most punishment the NYPD will receive for this. *shrugs*

Some ppl like to downplay crime and some ppl like to overplay crime in this city. I know things are still far better than 20 years ago but Ive noticed you tend to downplay things and always make it seem like things are better than they really are. The fact of the matter is this year it seems the media is atleast reporting far my crime in the city than in the recent past. Me and a lot of ppl I know have talked about how weve been seeing so much more murders, rapes, police corruption, assaults, and overall subway crime being reported on the news than we have in years.

Cops get slaps on the wrist typically...and it goes to show you there are 2 sets of laws, one for the civilians and regular people, and the other for the connected/priviledged, which includes cops. I have alot of respect for Police Officers, because it is really a sh***y job inside and outside the department, but I have zero respect for the department/system....and I lost it a long time ago. There is no leadership, and the entire mentality of the department is one of an occupation and not to serve (except to serve themselves). We need new leadership, and to breathe new life into this department, and to be partners with the community, and not harass and terrorize with gestapo tactics.

Wait, before we mischaracterize that linked story...

These cops are charged with CRIMES, and will face trials regarding those crimes, just like everyone else who is accused in this country. All that article is pointing out is that because of the pending charges, the City has stripped them of their union exemption from regular police work.

If anything, this article is showing you that these guys are being punished before they are even convicted of the crimes they are accused of.

I'm not speaking to any other situations, and maybe you are justified in feeling the way you do about police officers' usual level of punishment, but in this case, the story is being misunderstood completely.
Their cases are not over by a long shot, and they are very likely to lose their jobs when all is said and done. But just like every single American citizen, they are entitled to a trial before that happens.

Agreed Airborne..I was speaking as a whole and not to this particular incident. I think we can all safely say that cops have their own set of laws and rules they live by.

I found this incident to be particularly disturbing. I already know you can't tell anyone anything, but to have others simply laugh and film this is very telling about the society we live in:

@ sobroguy that was the video we were speaking about before that happened by my area... I hadn't heard the full details I had just seen the video on WSHH about a week ago... I take back everything I said about this man... I didn't realize the full situation... Now that I think about it and the position he was in I would like to think I would do the same thing and hopefully others would as well... But unfortunately what this man said about today's generation is so true... Young people seem to genuinely enjoy seeing others suffer far more today than back then...

Its a general desensitization to violence. I think I would help the woman, but not directly confront the men. I would help her up and escort her to another car, and not say anything directly to the perpetrators because you can pretty much tell people like that will react that way, or worse.

You can't save everyone, and most people will live and die by the streets, so helping others while keeping yourself safe is a delicate balance.

Yeah, now knowing the details of it, I can definitely understand why the man went face to face with the other guys. I commend him for his bravery and humanitarian act.

As for the younger generation (which includes me), I'm not sure I'd say my generation enjoys people suffering and, for the most part, we can be pretty respectful. However, I can admit that it seems like some of my generation have a great need for external validation and with the expansion of the internet last decade, people are more inclined to exploit others (and themselves) for a few minutes of fame. So in my observation, it's not that people are necessarily more violent, it's that a lot of people are starving for some kind of fame/attention/recognition.
