Robbery is on the increase in many places, even in those neighborhoods people assume to be safe. Sometimes we are more likely to hear of robberies in residential or commercial areas, than in the hood. That's because hood people deem those in the nicer places to be soft and easily intimidated, hence they go to there to "jux" or rob. Jux is street slang based on the word just/justice, because apparently to these people the world owes them everything and are merely taking what rightfully belongs to them. These are the "safe" areas of where high jux happens. And not surprising they are usually next to a hood area or projects.
Queens: Richmond Hill, Woodhaven, Sunnyside, Astoria, Forest Hill (uptick)
Brooklyn:
DUMBO, Brooklyn Heights, Park Slope, Prospect Heights
Manhattan: Tribeca, Greenwich village, Soho, NYU area, UWS, Morningside Heights, UES (uptick)
Don't walk around like a douche obnoxiously screaming into your smartphone, and your chances of getting robbed go down dramatically. Don't prance around the city like it's disneyland, and your chances of getting robbed go down dramatically.
People who are gonna rob other people, thrive off of this kind of thing. I don't care where you are or what color you are.
@ Allen I'm curious about why you put in Woodhaven as one of those better neighborhoods? Have you been there recently? That area has gone downhill for the past ten years. It's a bit similar to what happened to Ridgewood with the type of hispanic that were moving in and ruining the neighborhood. Alot of hispanic people from Bushwick began moving in since the 90s at a steady pace but ever since prices have gone up in Bushwick due to gentrification (whatever little there may be) a bunch of them have moved into Ridgewood last 2 to 3 years and now its becoming more and more like Bushwick as time passes. Woodhaven is right next to East NY and Jamaica... Similar situation over there as well and right now it's up there as one of the more crime plagued areas in Queens. MS-13 has a big set down there and Trini's and Bloods run all over the place down Jamaica Ave in Woodhaven as well. The other areas I agree to though. Astoria looks to be headed in the same direction though... hopefully not. It just seems that as Brooklyn areas get better, Queens areas are getting worse...
