Metro North trains run from Grand Central Terminal in midtown Manhattan to communities north of Manhattan. It's a commuter rail service for people living in Westchester and Connecticut (for the most part). Some of the nicest towns in the United States are on Metro North, but the train also runs through small cities and not-so-nice communities as well -- just like any other major train service.
thank you, sounds like a nice place to live then. I am 30 and a bachelor so i was hoping for an area that has some fun but also a nice place to live, do you think it is a good happenin area?

Is what a good area? I don't think you are understanding the responses. Metro North is a regional rail that supports a large part of the of metro-NYC area. Just to pull the coverage description from the website: "Today, with 384 route miles and 775 miles of track, Metro-North goes to 120 stations distributed in seven counties in New York State--Dutchess, Putnam, Westchester, Bronx, New York (Manhattan), Rockland, and Orange-and two counties in the state of Connecticut--New Haven and Fairfield."
So there are many areas that have access to Metro North and commuting to Manhattan, ranging from nice to not nice, from rural to urban, etc. It's not one specific area.
For a fun area, I would tend to look at White Plains, as it offers express trains to Manhattan and is not as boring as some other areas. Westchester is suburban, with small town/village centers, and some strip malls, but nightlife can be difficult to find.
