I have found a reasonably priced studio in Rego Park but it is 4 bus stops away from the M train station. I can't really walk much because of a foot injury so I would need to wait for the bus. In the mornings, I would have to walk or take a bus in Manhattan for about 10 blocks to get to work after I get off the train.

Just wondering if it is a good idea to rent that studio or the commute would be much of a hassle?

It's gonna get old real fast, I can tell you that. Sorry to have to say that, but it's the truth. If it's all you can find, then you can suck it up. It's not ideal though...

Rego Park closer to the M and R trains is a better bet.

Ten blocks is a half-mile, so not really doable with a foot injury.
But remember, foot injuries heal.

But yeah, two buses and a subway is a real drag.

10 walks is quite a walk when the weather is bad or if you have to carry stuff and can be hassle at night with less frequent buses. As already said foot injuries heal but these other factors will not change.
