I parked my car in a lot in midtown...
I am planning to leave it there for the week-end (3 days).
I realized afterwards that there was a sign "event rates in effect"

does that mean they will charge me the event rate for the 3 days ... or the normal 24-hour rate x 3???

thanks!!

This is really a question to ask the attendant as you are leaving the garage.

The event rate can triple, but the cost depends upon the event that the garage is using as a basis for charging the higher rate. If it is a sporting event, the higher rate would apply during that period, but sometimes garages will not charge that when the car is left for several days without being accessed. It's at the discretion of the garage as to whether or not the event rate would apply for the portion of time the vehicle was in the garage during the event. If you see the event parking sign, ask what event, and the duration of the rate, because if it's a convention at the Javits Center, the rate could be longer than for an event at MSG.

One way to avoid that problem, in future, is to use a site/app like Best Parking, or go directly to a parking company's website, such as Icon, to get the best rate possible, though you do sometimes have to print coupons to have the rates in effect.

Or, read the signs & posted regulations.
Why do that, though, when you can start a thread here, seeking advice from others with no knowlege of the situation?

Isn't that what a forum is for. Nobody forces you to read the posts or even more to reply to them.
