Seems very 1980's NY in terms of the demographics and stuff. Is it still really like that?

Ive only seen like 5 minutes of the show and it's accurate depiction of maybe one neighborhood in BK, but BK is a huge place population wise so there's wealthy areas, hipster areas, hood areas, just average middle class areas, ethnic area.

Hahaha No

First of all, the show is "suppose" to take place in Bay Ridge, except they couldn't even get that right. Bay Ridge's zip code is 11209, not 11223 [11223 is Gravesend], and second, Bay Ridge is not, and never has been, a "big Italian neighborhood".

Yeah... I figured it to be that way. Barely see any blacks on the show. Last time I recall Brooklyn, it had a lot of AA's and Hispanics...

I've only seen a commercial for the show, but it's not supposed to represent Brooklyn as a whole. Where did you get that idea from?

Where the hell are you from? Are you a "New Yawkah" wannabe? Stop watching T.V. and go to Brooklyn and see it for yourself.

I don't think it was meant to give an accurate depiction of the whole borough any more than Mamas Boys of The Bronx was meant to give an accurate depiction of The Bronx,Mob wives was meant to give an accurate depiction of Staten Island or Jersey Shore was meant to give an accurate depiction of New Jersey.

Each of these shows gives an exaggerated depiction of small segments of the populations of these places.

No, but a number of people on the show aren't from Bay Ridge. I believe there are some from Bensonhurst and Gravesend, so more Italian. And there are plenty of old-school Italians in Bay Ridge; I know them.

I agree with you there, however, none of those areas are exclusively Italian, and in the case of Bay Ridge, never was.
