Excuse me, Mistlerazer, but let me offer some advice.
First, don't expect to find pen pals by posting in an American forum. Most internet forums are for public discussions, not to ask for private messages. In fact, you shouldn't even post your email address so openly.
Second, although you're posting in the NYC forum, I'm not even sure if you're in NYC. If you're in NYC, there are all sorts of opportunities. For instance, I just posted recently about English conversation classes given for free at the public library. And try joining some groups or clubs for activities you like. In general, NYC are very willing to chat.
