You and your pal were screaming about skin color not too long ago so do not hide your bias now. In your eyes the progressive black/hispanic is an exception even though US census indicates that 53% of the black households in NYC earned at least $50k, the median HH income in the USA.
In addition to the fact that the Hasidic population has its share of problems, just kept hidden, but the issue of sexual predation and the abusive attempts by the Hasidic hierarchy to hide this fact was revealed a few months ago.
The destitute Jews have a strong support system that is funded by tithes from the wealthy among them. Young parents get subsidized daycare, teens and tweens get after school and religious education and families short on cash get money to buy food. This 40% deal actually proves it - no need for public housing.
Poor Jews get loads of tax payer funded services. This especially applies to Russian and Hasidic Jews. There are several nonprofits that help them get enrolled. Indeed there are many idle Hasidic men who "cant" work because they are supposedly reading the talmud all day...a problem that also exists in Israel by the way.
This is for the racists who were screaming against food stamps a few days ago thinking that only blacks and latins get it. Ironically black immigrants have some of the LOWEST usage of welfare among immigrant groups. Indeed both Caribbean and African immigrant women would rather work 2-3 jobs if they must rather than to go to the welfare office and grovel for a pittance.They dont have well funded nonprofits to do this for them.

Loads when just yesterday when we had your buddles screaming about blacks destroying neighborhoods and mooching off tax payers. You just ought to know that your tax dollars go to support Hasidics....not just "charities" as some one here pretended. All outlined in the NYT....you might wish to ignore it but these are facts.

If there are any Jews from outside of NYC or even from other parts of NYC looking for places to live, a local synagogue is offering to pay up to 40% of your rent( up to $7,500 yr) for 3 years if you move into the Pelham Parkway neighborhood and become an active member of the synagogue.
If you buy a house or an apartment in the neighborhood they will give you $40,000 .Again,all you have to do is be an active member of their synagogue for 3 years.
Man that synagogue has some deep coffers. Not judging but I'd rather they spend at least part of that money helping the neighborhood. But I realize they are a private entity and I respect their freedom of choice with their money. That said whoever ends up getting it may not even need it. Pelham Parkway is not a struggling neighborhood but im sure like any non wealthy area they have things that could be improved.
