Brooklyn is part of geographic Long Island and Brooklyn Islanders sounds wack. So why change it?

Yes I know that geographically BK is technically part of it, but I think they intended it to refer to suburban Long Island, aka Nassau and Suffolk.

I don't know anybody from Brooklyn or Queens who is going to introduce themselves saying they're from Long Island.

And yes, Brooklyn Islanders sounds wack, hence the recommendation to change the name.

Brooklyn Islanders.

I am excited about this, I don't have a hockey team I support and Rangers tickets are murder, so hopefully the Islanders will be a few buck cheaper cause I will definitely go to those games.

That's a good one, but I'd shorten it down to Coney Islanders just because it would be more fun to say

If they do change the name, although they probably won't, I just hope they don't make it some cheesy singular noun like they did with a bunch of the teams in MLS when it first came out... New England "Revolution", Dallas "Burn", Houston "Dynamo"...at least give it a plural name.

Does anyone else notice that Brooklyn (& Queens) isn't on the Islanders logo. It seems as if they cut it off lol.

Not a big deal though I suppose it's nice that two major league teams will play (and if the Islanders move Downtown Brooklyn) and are headquarted in Brooklyn.
