If one were to fall on the tracks, would it be easy to get back on the platform alone? It does not look difficult. I would use both arms as leverage to push me up and the rest is easy.

Probably it's easy for ppl with a somewhat normal physique but if the train comes...so you got to be lucky.
Getting off the tracks are easy. Granted you're not hurt
No one has ever noticed that there are steps at the end of the platform, leading to the tracks? You think the workers just jump down there? And jump back up?
I'm small (5'2") but am pretty light--I certainly couldn't pull myself up but it would be easier for someone to help me. I've thought about this ever since the Autrey incident--what I would try to do is make my way to the far end of the track (where the train will stop) and then carefully step over the third rail to fit between the tracks. And hold on!

It's pretty easy. I've done it a bunch of times. Granted I am a young adult and not a 60 year old. I'm 5'5 and from the tracks, the platform is about up to my upper chest. From there I just jump and use my two arms to push myself up.

I never did notice. I figured workers would have a ladder.
I went through the station yesterday.
There are 4 tracks, 2 local on the outside and 2 express in the middle. If one is conscious it would seem to be rather simple to move from one track to another to avoid a train. In fact there seems to be enough space between tracks, about a yard to accommodate a person even if TWO trains are passing through.
What is entailed of course is stepping atop the 3rd rail to get off the main track. Can I presume these electricfied rails are covered in wood so that one could step on them carefully and safely. They look like a shiny metal rail covered top and bottom in wood with only the INSIDE electrically live. Am I right?
So, was this guy unconscious when hit, or exctremely disoriented?
(Pardon if I am repeating what someone else might have said...14 pages of posts are too much to re-read.)

The guy was drunk and possibly belligerent. All these ideas of what could have been done once on the tracks are diluted by that unfortunate circumstance.
