This time, People on the platform were dropping to the ground to get a shot of the victim. the police has to warn them. Not only is this revolting behavior, They get in the way of officers and personnel trying to do their job. Vultures they are-Only they circle social media sharing thier sick entertainment instead of scavenging a body out in the desert. Ugh.

Problematically, once a way of suicide gets out, you'll see copycats who also want to kill themselves kill themselves in the same way.

The MTA may need to put up platform doors so the public doesn't have track access. Hey, it would also keep the tracks clean.

D. Scott I am still not convinced we are seeing an uptick in train deaths (of any significance). I think it's a "hot story" right now, so the media is milking it and reporting it moreso than they would otherwise.

It is no coincidence that stats comparing trains deaths YOY (or trend) is missing from these articles. Once you read "train deaths are slightly less than last year" (just an example)...you wonder what all the media hype is about.....and then you start to understand how much the media manipulates us.

Disgusting behavior by people taking pictures and getting in the way of police, but I agree with the above. I don't feel there are more suicides/drunks getting hit by trains than previous years but it does seem to be the hot topic recently.

I understand that its human nature to want to see what happened (ever been in slow traffic on a highway because of rubbernecking from something that happened on the *other* side?) but I don't get the picture taking. What are they planning to do with these photos? I think it's gruesome and disrespectful to photograph this stuff.

But....but....this is freedom of expression, freedom of speech, freedom of stupidity that is allowed in America. Seriously, this stuff shouldnt be allowed on the web and should be reported. And it should be illegal to take videos like this, especially getting in officers way.

Getting in officers' way is a problem, but taking pictures/videos should not be illegal, or indicative of something wrong with America. It is in poor taste to put the pics on facebook for entertainment, but I enjoy the freedom that we have to be able to take these pics without being locked up by the government or worse.

So the freedom to take these pics/videos is something GOOD, not bad. Don't believe me? Go to a country where such behavior is illegal and you are sent to prison, or worse...then tell me how "stupid" America/Americans are.

as the saying goes, you can't make anything idiot proof, as they will just get stronger idiots.

If these people are killing themselves this way, you can put something in place and they are still going to kill themselves.
