so what is everyones thoughts on whats happeing in jersey city? With all the new construction, and luxury condos in the once desolit downtown area where do you think jersey city will be in the upcoming years? Will this cut down on crime in other areas of jersey city? Will the other areas away from the path station see the affect of downtown? Will people pay these through the roof prices for the apartments and condos downtown? With its proximity to NYC it has somehow become a very possible choice outside of the other boros.
The areas near the PATH will continue to get nicer for the forseeable future, however the vast majority of Jersey City isn't located anywhere near a PATH station. These areas, which lack a PATH station are generally quite rundown. However the area to the East of the Turnpike (near Hamilton and Van Vorst parks) are generally really nice and will only continue to get better in the future.
ha, the people in JC/Hoboken would like that to happen. In all honesty though I think the "gold coast" areas in Jersey opposite Manhattan are some of the few places in the metro area outside of the city that have really dense development and a city feel (and aren't complete ghettos).
Jersey City is a super success story! I think it is going to continue to be a hot destination for the yuppie/hipster set. Cheaper than Williamsburg, yet just as close to the city.
"I think it is going to continue to be a hot destination for the yuppie/hipster set." Oh crap this was what i was hoping not to hear, yuppies and hipsters i dont know who sucks more, hopefully they stop coming here.
I don't think new construction will eliminate crime. As for the high rent costs, if people can afford it they will pay for it. I'm looking for some where to live because i got a job in west manhattan. I just separated from the military after 11 and a half years and I know the NYC has changed. I'm undecided where to live? Suggestions from you would be appreciated..
I suggest you start your own topic with your question on it. That way you'll get a lot more answers. Also remember to include how much you can afford for rent so that people can help you out.

Hahah to me Jersey City/Hoboken feels more like a borough and more connected to NYC than Staten Island does.
thats truth right there. Staten island is a waste of space, its really detached from NYC and Jersey wouldnt even take it if they could lol Im from NY, and the only time i was in staten island was to get to NJ and come back home from NJ. Traffic through there goin to the verrazanno is some of the worst i have experienced in my life. Only good thing in staten island: Pizza.
