I think citylove's description is more accurate...it is about more QOL issues (in general), less about safety.

Probably the worst part about that particular area is noise. That amsterdam strip is very loud. You have the traffic coming off the 181st retail corridor and then you also have the cross bronx intersection. To boot there is a firehouse nearby as well.

its live able i mean they have some brand new condos on 177th st and amsterdam. They look pretty nice. That area is very Dominican, very loud full of culture and i love that. Just that there is more police activity than on the west. West of Bway is def changing but the east seems to be falling behind.
