It's so hard to answer this question. But I guess to just give a flat out answer, yes I do enjoy living here..for the time being. Would I stay 5-10-15 years from now, and raise a family? Probably not. But it's nice to experience it and say I lived in one of (if not THE) greatest cities in the world.
Another question for people though (remember, I'm a transplant).. When you say NYC, is that specifically Manhattan, or all buroughs included? Can't wait for responses on this one. :-D But because that could make a difference as to how you answer this. I live in Queens, so outside of the "city," and it's been good for me. If I actually lived in Manhattan, I have no doubt that it would be a completely different experience.
I used to feel like I would never leave NYC but that has changed...once I started visiting other places and realized how nice they were, I realized I don't want to stay in NYC my whole life.
I think either it's for you or it's not. For me, it's definitely not.
Yes I do still like living here but it's not as free and open here as it was before Bloomberg.
When I go visit my brother, who moved to the suburbs, I feel trapped. You have to have a car to do anything. Nothing within walking distance. Everyone with the same culture, same look. Just too bland there.
NYC is just a crowded theme park now. Hardly anything worth seeing. The only reason one would come here is for work and to eat. Sadly most tourist come to NYC just to see other tourists, they don't really visit any of the restaurants and just eat at those popular franchise places.
I don't think Bloomberg is all that bad, he's perceived as a dictator but a lot things he does has more upside than downsides.
Not anymore. It's an overpriced yuppie dump ( a la gay) littered with 3rd world trash and LOTS AND LOTS of rules.
Would I live anywhere else in america ? YES southern california but I hear that is going in the same direction. Go global perhaps...SURE but my dollar (peso!) doesn't go as far anymore.
This whole country is one big blob. The 70's and 80's were good times in NYC...THE BEST.
i heard that crime was extremely high in 70-80. How come that would be considered the best time?
i found your comment of 3rd world trash here a bit harsh but there is truth to it nevertheless...
